If You Trick-Or-Treat In A Cajun Neighborhood, Here Is What You Would Get
We all know that Louisiana is a unique state with some very interesting people living here in the bayou state. As a Cajun myself, I thought what would a Cajun like myself hand out for Halloween if I had no candy for trick-or-treaters?
Most kids who Trick Or Treat are looking for those sweet treats and candy but if they visit a Cajun house, they may be surprised by what they might get other than candy.
I mean if they forget to go buy candy to hand out, what would most Cajuns do? They would start raiding their pantry and start handing random things to those trick-or-treaters who show up out their doorsteps.
Since I am one of those Cajun folks, I thought up a list of things I would hand out, and here is my list.
A jar of roux. I mean it's about to get cold. Who wouldn't want some roux to cook up a good gumbo?
Deer Sausage. Every Cajun in Louisiana has at least a few packs of deer sausage in their freezer. If they don't then they either didn't kill a deer during the hunting season or they are still in the process of making some.
A bag of rice. I mean it kind of goes hand and hand with the gumbo above.
A Deck of cards. I know you wondering, why a deck of cards? Well, how are you going to have a good game a Bourré without it?
Cast Iron Pot. I mean most Cajuns won't give up their favorite pot but if that's all they got, congrats you got one now.
A Bottle Of Butane. Every Cajun has at least four or five bottles of butane in their backyard. Actually, this is a great gift so ask for one of those first!
Slice Of Cake. Every Cajun household always has a dessert on hand. If you get lucky, they will have a Carrot cake, coconut cake, or banana cake. Ask for a slice. They are sure to have one!
So there you geaux. You may want to scout out your trick-or-trick strategy and find only a Cajun house to visit this Halloween!
