Attention Louisiana Students and Parents: School Closures Announced Due to Extreme Weather 🚨

The Calcasieu Parish School Board has announced school closures starting Sunday night and continuing into the first part of next week due to an approaching winter storm. Forecasted extreme temperatures in the teens and potential snowfall across the state, including Calcasieu Parish, are expected to create hazardous driving conditions for bus drivers, teachers, students, and parents.

The safety of our community is the top priority. Please take precautions during this time and stay tuned for updates from your local officials and school board regarding reopening dates and further guidance.

School closures: Effective Sunday night through at least mid-next week.
Weather conditions: Temperatures in the teens, potential snowfall, and icy roads.
Impact: Hazardous travel conditions likely; plan accordingly.
Tuesday will not be a virtual day for students. CPSB will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide an update to SWLA families on the status of school for Wednesday around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

For more info stay tuned to CPSB’s website, social media channels, and local media outlets in the coming days. Stay safe, stay warm!
