KCS 1776 Train Rolls Through DeQuincy, Louisiana

DeQuincy, Louisiana - You might have recently seen a unique train rolling through Southwest Louisiana. Recently, the brand new KCS 1776 train, which was specially created to celebrate America's 250th Birthday, rode through DeQuincy. One of our listeners sent us a picture, and we found a video to show you!

As you know, trains have played an important role in our country's history by helping move goods across the country for more than a century. Today, CPKC operates one of the largest freight railroad networks in North America, serving 19 states, including right here in Louisiana and Texas.

CPKC Unveils Train Celebrating America 250

A few months ago, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) unveiled a new locomotive train that was painted to honor the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which we have been celebrating here in 2026.

The train is called KCS 1776, and it is painted in patriotic Old Glory Red and Old Glory Blue. It also features the official America250 logo, the group chosen by Congress to lead the nation's anniversary celebration. The train is GORGEOUS. It was actually built at Wabtec's manufacturing plant in Fort Worth, Texas.

According to a release from CPKC, the design includes several symbols from American history. It features the words "In Congress" from the beginning of the Declaration of Independence, the opening words of the U.S. Constitution, and 13 stars surrounding the date July 4, 1776, representing the original 13 colonies that helped found the United States.
