Kris Kristofferson will receive a very special honor at the 2019 CMA Awards. The iconic singer-songwriter is set to receive the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award during the ceremony on Nov. 13.

The 83-year-old will also be honored with an all-star tribute from Dierks Bentley, Sheryl Crow, Chris Janson and John Osborne from Brothers Osborne. The four will be performing Kristofferson's classic hit, "Me and Bobby McGee."

“Kris is a living legend whose impact on our genre has been monumental,” CMA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Trahern says in a press release. “He is the definition of an icon and someone our community holds with such high regard. I’m thrilled our board selected Kris this year for one of CMA’s highest accolades. Though he won’t be joining us at the CMA Awards, I hope our tribute performance brings a big smile to his face.”

Kristofferson has thirty studio albums under his belt. He got his start in the music industry through songwriting. The multi-talented artist then took his talents to Hollywood by becoming an actor. He most notably won the 1977 Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his performance in A Star Is Born.

The Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to artists who have achieved legendary status in country music. The first winner was Nelson himself, who was honored in 2012. Other previous winners include Kenny Rogers in 2013, Johnny Cash in 2015 and most recently Dolly Parton in 2016.

Kristofferson won his first CMA Award in 1970 for CMA Song of the Year for "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down," which was originally recorded by Ray Stevens in 1969 before Cash's classic version in 1970. He was most recently nominated at the 2012 CMA Awards for CMA Musical Event of the Year for "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die," which he performed alongside Snoop Dogg, Jamey Johnson and Nelson.

The 53rd Annual Country Music Association Awards will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena at 8PM ET on ABC on Nov. 13.
