🐊 KNGT 🐊 | Louisiana — Alright y’all, it’s time to pay attention before you crank up the old truck and hit the highway. Starting August 1st, Louisiana’s got some new driving rules that could cost you big if you don’t follow ‘em. I ain’t trying to scare ya, but I’d rather you get the warning from me than from a hungry state trooper with a ticket book.

New Louisiana Vehicle Laws 2025

Act 24 is first on the list. Rep. Jay Luneau from Alexandria put this one together. It says you’ve gotta stay in the right lane unless you’re passing someone or about to take a left turn. That means no more cruising like you're part of the "Left Lane Chain Gang" like you're leading the Indy 500. First time you get caught? That'll cost you $150. Do it again in the same year, that’s $250. Strike three and it’s $350 or possibly 30 days in the big house.

Louisiana Law Covering Leaving The Scene of Accident

Now let’s talk about Act 124, brought to us by Rep. Troy Romero from Jennings. This one’s serious. If you’re in a wreck and leave the scene, especially if someone gets hurt or even worse, you could go to jail for up to 10 years or pay up to $5,000. Or both. It’s not just the right thing to stay, it’s the law now.

New Tint Laws for Louisiana, Now Darker

And last but not least, Act 143. This one’s about window tint. Rep. Daryl Deshotel said we’re changing the front window tint limit from 45% visibility to 25%. That means more dark tint up front. Louisiana is now not one of the most restrictive states in terms of window tint regulations.

So there you have it. Three new laws, one common message: Drive right, do right, and check your tint. Stay safe out there, Southwest Louisiana. Let’s keep the roads, and our wallets, outta trouble.
