Lake Charles Football Player Gets Sweet Hook-Up From Hungry Jack!
Don't you love it when a plan comes together(especially when you got no ulterior motive)? That's kinda what happened after Ian Evans posted high school football pics of himself with jugs of Hungry Jack syrup on his Gram page. Overnight images of the Barbe High School Football starting linebacker not only got a huge reaction, but they went viral.
The Barbe football player told the news while taking photos, his photographer suggested, "Hey get a picture with the syrup." He continued, "And I got it and I was like, ‘How about I take a sip and post them on Instagram?" He did just that, and Hungry Jack was digging the images so much that they sent the "fire emojis." About a week later Evans said he messaged the food giant and they sent him the ultimate care package in response, a bunch of pancake mix and syrup.
Needless to say, it looks like the Barbe Football team and coaches are going to be eating pretty good for the next few weeks! Shouts out to Hungry Jack for hooking Ian and his teammates up like that! In case you were wondering, why syrup? If I had to guess, Ian was probably using a page from Coach Carmichael's playbook. Photos of the football coach for Jonesboro High School in Georgia went viral for his use of syrup. He captured major attention by pouring maple syrup into his player's mouths on the sidelines during games. Why? He said the syrup was to help his line play better.
The term "Pancake Block" describes the end result of a run block by offensive linebackers that lands a defensive player end up flat on his back. That said, everyone knows where there are pancakes there's gotta be syrup!
Ian and his teammates play Carencro at Barbe this Friday, September 9. I'm sure he and his fellow LBs will have their syrup. By the way, he told KPLC that he would love the opportunity to do some commercials for Hungry Jack in the future. If so, he explained he'd run a line something like, "I’m Ian Evans, and this is hungry, Jack, yeah.”
Good luck Ian and Go, Bucs!
