Coming up on Monday, June 19th, 2023, the city of Lake Charles will be closed to observe the Juneteenth holiday. You may not know this but Juneteenth is now a federal holiday.

Back in 2021, Juneteenth became a federal holiday in the United States. What is Juneteenth? According to Wikipedia,

A holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, enslaved people were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

Lake Charles residents, since the City of Lake Charles will observe the holiday, you will need to make sure that they put out your trash on the appropriate day because your day WILL be changed.
