You may not have realized this but coming up this Monday, January 20th, 2025 will be the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. This is a national holiday which means federal state and local entities will be closed to observe the day.

It may also have slipped your mind that this Monday will also be Inauguration day as President-Elect Donald Trump will be sworn into office and take over for current President Joe Biden. So in a way, it will be a double national holiday.

With Monday being a national holiday, the City of Lake Charles will observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Monday, January 20, 2025. Lake Charles City Hall will be closed on this day, and there will be NO trash or garbage collection on Monday, January 20, 2025.

So with no trash pickup on Monday, the burning question is, When will your trash be picked up? Katie Harrington with the City Of Lake Charles said,

Changes in trash and garbage pickup are as follows:

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Monday will be rescheduled for pickup on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

Trash and garbage normally picked up on Tuesday will be rescheduled for pickup on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Thursday and Friday routes will remain on their regular schedules.-- City of Lake Charles Katie Harrington

She also advised us that the Department of Public Works, including all Recycling Operations including the Nelson Ball Field/Alma Ln location, the Wood Waste Facility, and the Roving Green Truck will also be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025, All these facilities and services will reopen on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
