Lake Street Liquor with Five Decades in SWLA

For more than 50 years, Lake Street Liquor has been a part of the Lake Charles community. The business originally opened around 1960 and was owned by Rozas' husband's grandfather, Curry Rozas. After changing hands several times over the years, the store eventually came full circle when Ashley purchased the business in 2021.

“I say all of that to say this... after lots of praying and crying... and more crying and praying, I have made the extremely difficult decision to close around December,” said Rozas in a Facebook Post.

Lake Street Liquor became known here in Southwest Louisiana for hand-picked wines, custom gift baskets, specialty drinks, cigars, local seasonings, hot sauces, glassware, and plenty of non-alcoholic options.

Over the years, Rozas said customers, employees, delivery drivers, and sales representatives became like family. She also talked about how much she appreciated the college students who worked at the store and became part of her "work family."

Now, after five years since reopening following Hurricane Laura, Rozas has made the difficult decision to close.

In a post announcing the news, Rozas said the store has been struggling for quite some time and that the decision came after a lot of prayer, tears, and sleepless nights. The plan is to continue business as usual through the end of November. Customers with special orders are encouraged to place them, and the store will continue its Smoke & Barrel events and tastings during its final weeks. After more than five decades in Lake Charles, Lake Street Liquor is preparing to close its doors.
