As we reported last week, the new "idea" to eliminate the Inspection Stickers in Louisiana is to go to QR Codes.

The bill was pushed by Larry Bagley from DeSoto Parish. He says many people are tired of dealing with inspection stickers and believes the system is outdated.

What the New Bill Would Do

Right now, drivers pay $10 for a one-year sticker or $18 for a two-year sticker. The money from these stickers goes to the State Police and the Office of Motor Vehicles.

Under the new plan, inspection stickers would be replaced with a QR code sticker that would cost about $6. This code would hold basic information about the car, like the VIN number, color, make, and model.

Louisiana Moves Closer to Ending Inspection Stickers

We have made strides towards eliminating the inspection sticker and moving to the QR Code system.

This week, the Louisiana House of Representatives passed a new bill that would get rid of vehicle inspection stickers for most drivers. The bill is not law yet. It still needs to pass the Senate before anything changes for drivers.

The bill passed the House with strong support in an 86-7 vote.

Governor Jeff Landry took to Social Media in support of the bill and called it “great news” after it passed the House.
