I know we are all focused on Hurricane Laura right now, but we thought it would be nice to take a break with that and talk college football.

We are just a little over a month away from the start of the college football season and the SEC football season. The Associated Press has released the first college football poll for the 2020 season.

The LSU Tigers should be the number one team in the country since they won the national championship last season, right? Think again, Tigers fans. Not only is LSU not the number one team in the country, but they also didn't even land inside the top five in the poll.

The number one team in the country, according to the Associated Press, is the Clemson Tigers, which is the team LSU beat to win the national championship last season. The number two team is Ohio State, followed by Alabama at number three. Georgia lands at number four while Oklahoma lands at number five.

Finally, LSU lands at number six in the poll. Number six, y'all. LSU beat the heck out of Oklahoma in the college football semi-final playoff game before beating Clemson, but they are both ranked ahead of the Tigers. How does that happen?

My opinion? #9 is gone and is now a Cincinnati Bengal. Of course, I am talking about Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, Joe Burrow. Maybe that is why LSU dropped in the first poll of the season.

The Associated Press has been releasing the college football polls since 1936, making it the longest running poll in college football history.

With that all being said, LSU begins the 2020 football season at home in death valley when they face Mississippi State in Baton Rouge on September 28.
