Lake Charles, Louisiana - Summertime is officially here, which means football season is getting closer, and McNeese football will be back before you know it. McNeese is giving fans the chance to celebrate the return of Cowboy football at this year’s Fan Fest.

Cowboys Getting Ready For 2026 Football Season

It is the second season of Coach Matt Viator's return tenure in Lake Charles, and they're still looking to get things back on track. The good news is they'll bring back a solid foundation of returners, along with some big transfers. One of the key returners is Junior Quarterback Jake Strong. Strong will be the first quarterback to start the season back-to-back years since Cody Orgeron did so back in 2019-20.

McNeese Announces 2026 Football Fan Fest for August 15th

Football fans will be able to get an up-close look at the Cowboys on Saturday, August 15th at 6:00. The event is free for the public. It will begin with the Cowboys' preseason practice at 6 p.m. and will also include vendors, games, and the latest McNeese merchandise. Fans will also have the chance to get closer to the team with on-field access and player autographs.

Along with football, Fan Fest will include plenty of activities for the whole family. Guests can enjoy food trucks, jump houses, face painting, local vendors, and more.

A special vendor area will also be set up, featuring local businesses, artists, makers, and farmers showcasing their products. The Farmers Market-style setup gives local creators a chance to connect with the McNeese community.
