Movies Under the Stars will start on Friday, July 9, and run for four consecutive weeks. For the first three weeks, the movies will be played at Prien Lake Park in Lake Charles and the last week, the movie will be shown at River Bluff Moss Bluff.

On Friday, July 9, the featured film will be Moana at Prien Lake Park. The next Friday, July 16, the movie will be Yogi Bear followed by Rango on Friday, July 23.

On Friday, July 30, the film will be the 2016 version of The Jungle Book at River Bluff in Moss Bluff.

The event is free and open to the public. There is no smoking or tobacco products allowed, and no glass bottles or alcohol allowed at theses events.

Tom Hoefer with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury said,

All movies will start at 6:30 p.m. but be sure to get there early to get the best spots. Residents are encouraged to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs.


Residents can also bring their own food, but there will be vendors present at every movie. Also, free popcorn and cotton candy will be served at each event.

In the event of bad weather, the Movies Under the Stars for that week will be canceled and not rescheduled.
