Randy Travis will be honored with Country Radio Seminar's 2016 Artist Career Achievement Award, an honor given to an artist who has made a significant contribution to the development and promotion of country music and radio.

As a Country Music Hall of Fame inductee with 50 charted songs and 16 No. 1 singles to his name, as well as the winner of CMAs, ACMs, Grammys and AMAs, Travis has achieved much in his storied career, and is most deserving of this new trophy. The singer calls the achievement "an honor quite unlike any other."

"The artist’s and the broadcaster’s relationship is one of unspoken respect," Travis says in a press release. "I appreciate so much the kindness I have been shown over the years by radio … You have each become a part of my success and allowed my fans an opportunity to know me better — as an artist and as a person. Thank you for believing in me … and in my body of work. It is YOU which I take my hat off to."

Travis will be presented the 2016 CRS Artist Career Achievement Award during the Country Radio Hall of Fame Dinner and Awards ceremony on June 22 in Nashville; at the event, country singer Josh Turner will perform a musical tribute to Travis. Also being awarded is Carole Bowen, who will receive the CRS President's Award, and the 2016 Country Radio Hall of Fame inductees.

Travis' induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame was announced at the end of March. He appeared at the announcement event with his wife, Mary Davis, and was able to say thank you to the attendees. During and after the announcement, Davis noted that her husband’s continuing recovering from his stroke in 2013 has been, and continues to be, a series of “giant baby steps.”

“Words can never express my gratitude to those who continue to believe in me, pray for me and keep me lifted up in thought and deed,” Travis wrote in a note following an appearance at the 2015 ACM Awards. “… The power of music remains a source of inspiration and healing for me … and I still have a lot to share with you. It is my prayer that, with continued healing, one day soon, I will be back on that stage exchanging music with my fans … my friends, who with God’s amazing grace, have brought me this far.”
