Over the weekend, Saints quarterback Derek Carr announced his retirement from the NFL after learning over a shoulder injury that would keep him from playing in the 2025 season.

The news broke on Saturday, with ESPN reporting the news. Carr played in the NFL from 2014 until his retirement after the 2024 season. He played eight seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders before coming to New Orleans to play for the Saints for the past two years.

So, what is next for the Saints now that their starting quarterback has retired? According to Adam Schefter with ESPN, he said,

Saints HC Kellen Moore said they will rotate all their quarterbacks, give them all opportunities, as one tries to seize the starting job. “We’re going to let all three of these guys roll,” Moore said. Each will be given the chance to win the Saints’ starting job.

Who are the three quarterbacks the Saints have left? In the quarterback room, the New Orleans Saints have Tyler Shough, who they just drafted in the 2025 NFL draft, Spencer Rattler, who played for the Saints last year when Carr got hurt, and Jake Haener, who also saw some action last season.

Now, as far as the fans are concerned, when the news broke over the weekend, the internet exploded with people weighing in on who they thought the Saints should sign as quarterback. Fans were saying the Saints should go out and get Aaron Rodgers, who played last season for the New York Jets.
