Southland Conference Releases Pre-Season Polls & All-Conference Teams
On Monday, the Southland Conference kicked off the start of the 2024 Football Season with the Southland Conference Media Day/Opening Drive. During the yearly event, the Conference announces its Pre-Season poll and All-Conference Teams. Here's everything you may have missed...
Monday was media day in San Antonio for the SLC, but not McNeese. The Cowboys had to film their segment a day earlier. They are the only Southland team to open the season in Week Zero, therefore they start camp a week sooner than the others. McNeese will play at Tarleton State on August 24.
Media Day is important because it gets everyone excited for the new football season. It’s also a chance for the teams to show off their hard work and dedication. For McNeese, this is a time to highlight their strategies and key players who will be leading the team this year.
During Media Day, you’ll hear from McNeese Head Coach Gary Goff, and players Micah Davey and Clifton McDowell. They will talk about their preparation for the season, excitement around the team, and much more.
McNeese had three players named to the preseason All-Conference teams, including two on defense. Micah Davey was picked to the first team after setting a national record in tackles last season. Senior offensive lineman Cole LeClair joined him on the first team. Levi Wyatt, a defensive back, was picked to the second team.
McNeese was ranked sixth in the preseason Southland poll conducted by coaches and Sports Information Directors.
