For the 58th year, Pirate Jean Lafitte and his band of Buccaneers have taken over the grounds of the Lake Charles Civic Center until May 10. Gator Country knows this two week festival as Contraband Days. But has it run its course?
On May 4, 1975, The King of Rock 'n' Roll landed in Lake Charles, La., for two sold-out shows at the Civic Center during Contraband Days. For some Lake Charles residents, it's still the biggest show that ever rocked the lake.
Contraband Days gets into full swing today with Family Night so bring the kids and listen to some great gospel music by the Arenos and Jason Crabb. Tomorrow evening the Buccaneers land and the mayor walks the plank.Check the schedule of events.
The Buccaneers will be leaving the City of Lake Charles this Sunday and returning the command to Mayor Randy Roach thus ending Contraband Days 2013. Even though they made us walk the plank when they took over the city, I don't think they will walk the plank when the mayor takes over. Don't seem fair. But anyway there's still a big weekend of Contraband Days left and it's full of fun with great
