We Could Have Our First Tropical Depression of 2018
The National Weather service is reporting that there is an area of disturb tropical weather in the Gulf of Mexico.
The system is sitting just off the West coast of Florida. The National Weather service is saying the possibility of development in the next 48 hours is about 30% with a 40% chance of development in the next 5 days.
The map shows that if development does happen, the track looks like it would head due North and make a landfall somewhere between Mississippi/Alabama border to the West to somewhere around the pan handle of Florida.
Even though forecasters don't give this system much of a chance, this should still open your eyes to the fact that now would be a good time to get your supplies ready just in case a really big storm pops up on the radar.
Hurricane season officially starts on Friday June 1st, 2018 this year.
