The original college football season has come and gone except for the college football National Championship, which will be played this Monday as Alabama takes on Ohio State.

For the McNeese football team, they had to sit out this fall due to the pandemic. A few things have changed since the Cowboys took the field last. They have hired a new head coach as Frank Wilson takes over the head coaching duties for the Pokes.

Did you realize it has been 410 days since the Cowboys put on a helmet and did any form of game play? Yep, that is true. Well, today that comes to an end as the McNeese football squad begin spring practice and get prepared for the upcoming spring football campaign.

It is going to be weird to have football in the spring instead of the usual fall football slate, but what isn't weird in the past 12 months?

The Cowboys are set to launch a seven game season starting on Saturday, February 13 at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. The first home game for the pokes will be on Saturday, February 27 against Incarnate Word. The game time has not been determined as of yet.

McNeese will have three home games this spring, which include the for mentioned game on February 27, a home game on Saturday, March 13 against Lamar, and the final home game scheduled, as of now, for Saturday, April 3 against Nicholls.

Get ready, Cowboy nation. Football is back and coming our way next month.
