As of a few weeks ago, the only games that were on the McNeese Basketball schedule for the 2024-2025 season were the Southland Conference games and a matchup in Lafayette to take on the Ragin' Cajuns. Now it looks like the Cowboys will be making a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands and it's being reported they will travel to take on a SEC school.

Many of the coaches, including Will Wade, will tell you that it has been a struggle to find games that will help the Cowboys improve on last year's schedule. Normally it wouldn't be an issue with a mid-major scheduling a Power school, but when you have Will Wade and the athletes that he will have, things will be a bit different.

On Thursday we reported that it had been officially confirmed that the Cowboys would be heading to Paradise next season as the Cowboys will take part in the Paradise Jam. Read more about the Paradise Jam by CLICKING HERE.

The Cowboys' struggles to schedule games that make sense have been noted on numerous occasions. With even the likes of major power schools turning down McNeese.

Coach Will Wade alluded to a potential SEC matchup for next season on the PokeCast, the McNeese Coaches show. It is being reported that that is now official. The Cowboys will take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs and Head Coach Chris Jans on a neutral site. The game is scheduled for December 14th at Cadence Bank Arena in Tupelo, Mississippi. The game will be played on a Saturday.
