Another local icon has shut its doors. Scrolling around Facebook last night, I ran across a post of the beautiful and rustic Gayle's Hardware with its windows boarded up. Some comments stated that perhaps they were remodeling, while others confirmed its closure.

It's sad to see a local business such as this close its doors for any reason. What really gave me goosebumps was that I began to remember going there many times with my grandmother for parts and pieces for her garden tools. Later on, Dad and I would go and just shop around for things we didn't need. They seemed to have everything you needed, and some things you didn't need but definitely wanted.

As I was scrolling through the comments on the photo, it seemed that others were having the same sort of inner reflections, talking about how their grandfathers would take them there for things, or how they would take their own kids there because their parents would go there for items they needed. One comment even said, "They had real brooms and mops there."

I wasn't too sure what that meant, but it made me laugh! Now, it's time to say goodbye to an old friend and wish those involved the best of luck in the future.
