Have You Ever Wanted To Be A School Bus Driver?
As a child, we all used to have to wait at the bus stop for the big yellow bus to come through the neighborhood and pick us up. I remember it like it was yesterday and at times I wondered what it would be like to be able to drive the bus myself. That opportunity never came for me but now there seems to be one that is coming up for those of you who would like to be a substitute school bus driver in Calcasieu Parish.
The Calcasieu Parish School Board will be hosting a preservice training, which will include behind-the-wheel training for substitute school bus drivers. This will kick off next week January 24-27 from 5- 9 p.m. There will also be training on January 29 from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. and January 31- Feb 3, 5 p.m.- 9 p.m.
These courses are important to become a substitute School Bus Driver and are required to drive in our school district. If you are interested in becoming a School Bus Driver, pick up an application at the Personnel Office of the Calcasieu Parish School Board 3310 Broad Street between 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.pm. The offices are closed for a lunch break from 12- 12:45 p.m. Attendees are being asked to wear comfortable clothing for all training. There will be some days that will include hands-on training where you will interact with the bus.
