One thing that has been almost a forbidden and non discussed topic is that of Human Trafficking. However, this is real, and something that not only needs to be talked about but also dealt with accordingly. That is why it brings me happiness to see that various law enforcement leaders from SWLA are thinking just like me and others and will be bonding together to form a Human Trafficking Task Force for Southwest Louisiana.

The force will be comprised of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as well as non-profits working to help put a stop to sexual exploitation and prosecute cases where human trafficking is being done in and around Calcasieu Parish. They will also be providing a sense of solace to those who have been victims of Human Trafficking themselves.

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. This is a great initiative to bring awareness to this horrendous crime and show that this is not something that should be permissible anywhere especially here in Calcasieu Parish.

If you belong to a local service agency or non-profit organization and would like to assist and possibly be involved, please send an email to info@cpso.com.
