Last night, the Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star break began and the MLB homerun derby took place. Eight major league baseball players from different teams competed for the title of home run derby champion.

The home run derby and the All-Star game which takes place tonight is being held in Arlington Texas at Globe Life Field home of Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers. The Rangers are also the reigning world champions as they beat the Arizona Diamondbacks to win the World Series in 2023.

The night was supposed to be all about the players, the home runs, and the excitement of the performances. Unfortunately, the internet exploded overnight about a performance but it wasn't about any of the baseball players.

Instead, the internet almost broke about country singer Ingrid Andress' National Anthem performance before the home run derby began. Videos of the performance started circulating all over social media with let's say some unfavorable reviews of her singing.

The comments on social media were brutal with some saying things like,

  • Just wondering how those players can keep a straight face. I just listened to it and my face cringed
  • We were in the stands...it was shocking. People thought we were being punked!
  • Ouch I can never un-hear that
  • This was uncomfortable to watch!
