St. Huckleberry Animal Fund Giving Away 1,000 Bags of Premium Cat Food

(LAKE CHARLES, La.) - A Southwest Louisiana organization focused on helping pets and the people who care for them is marking a major milestone with another large-scale giveaway event for the community. St. Huckleberry Animal Fund is celebrating its fifth anniversary by distributing 1,000 bags of premium cat food in Lake Charles later this month.

The St. Huckleberry Animal Fund mission is celebrating its 5th anniversary and marking a milestone of giving away over $500,000 worth of premium pet food to the community since 2021. Its mission remains the same: Creating a network of hope and a kinder world for all animals and the people who love them. The next major initiative will be a network of St. Huckleberry Animal Fund Hospitals with implemented pet insurance, which will be the first of its kind.

Where and When the Giveaway Will Take Place

• Date - Friday, May 29, 2026
• Start Time - beginning at 1:00 p.m.
• Location - Oak Park Square Shopping Center, located at 3202 Gerstner Memorial Drive in Lake Charles. Organizers say the giveaway site will be set up next to City Gear.

As always, supplies are limited and distribution will continue until all food has been handed out. L'Auberge Casino is providing in-kind donation of cookies and water cases.

ABOUT ST. HUCKLEBERRY ANIMAL FUND

Lori Dover established the St. Huckleberry Animal Fund in 2021 in honor of her beloved kitten, Huckleberry. Inspired by the love of her kitten, Dover became an advocate for stronger animal cruelty laws and encourages human moral responsibility and esprit de corps.
