January 16th Southwest Louisiana Power Outage Update
With all of the weather issues going on around Southwest Louisiana between Monday and here on Tuesday, local Southwest Louisiana residents are experiencing power outages. We have found the outage maps, here's what we can see.
Traffic, cold weather, and Louisianans don't typically mix very well. On Monday, it appeared it may have gotten colder a lot earlier than many people anticipated. It was below freezing in Lake Charles by 3:00. There were multiple wrecks on both I-10 and 210 on Monday. Some were stranded for hours on top of each respective bridge.
There are multiple outages that both Beauregard Electric and ENTERGY companies outage maps and it appears that there are a lot of outages along Highway 165 near Oberlin and Kinder. Per both websites, it looks like there are over 15,000 customers here locally without electricity.
As you can see here in the screenshots, it appears most of LeBleu Settlement is without electricity. It begins there and appears to go straight up HWY 165.
Also being reported appear to be outages in Beauregard and Vernon Parishes as well. They received more freezing rain, and in some cases, snow. Here is what the outage map looks like right now, as of Tuesday Morning at 8:00 am, in that area.
