Jennings Woman Jumps From Mermentau River Bridge

The Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office is reporting that they responded to a call in reference to a woman who was seen jumping off of the Mermentau River Bridge which is East of Jennings, Louisiana.

JDSO advised us that they responded to a call this morning where is was reported that  a woman jumped off Mermentau River bridge on US 90 East of Jennings.  Jeff Davis Parish Deputies arrived and discovered a vehicle parked on top of the Mermentau River Bridge located on Hwy. 90 and it was locked with no one around.

Witnesses at LeeVac shipyard observed the woman jump from the bridge and alerted deputies to the location.

The body of a white female identified as Irene F. Jeanise 82, of 415 Martin Street, Jennings was recovered shortly thereafter.  The Sheriff's Office has notified next of kin and Jeanises' body was removed by Matthews Funeral Home.
