Lake Charles Hosting Free Kids STEM Event This Saturday (May 30th)
Lake Charles, Louisiana - With summer officially here in Southwest Louisiana, parents are going to be looking for ways to keep the kids entertained, and we have a lot of ways to do that here in the Lake Charles area. But the City of Lake Charles is going to be hosting a pretty cool event for the kids, and it's absolutely FREE.
The City of Lake Charles’ Partners in Parks program is teaming up with Phillips 66 to host the Phillips 66 STEM Family Fun Day in the Park this Saturday!

What is STEM?
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. These four subjects are closely connected and often grouped because they share similar ideas in both learning and real-world use. STEM helps kids learn how things work and how to solve problems in creative ways.

At the event, kids will get to take part in hands-on STEM activities like making elephant toothpaste, glitter slime, lava lamps, fire snakes, volcanoes, and dry ice bubbles. There will also be sensory play stations designed just for younger children.
In addition to the science activities, families can enjoy a fun jump, snacks, and even a visit from Chuck the Train. One of the best parts for parents is that they won’t have to worry about cleaning up the mess afterward.
Bring out the kiddos this Saturday for the Phillips 66 STEM Family Fun Day in the Park. The free event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Drew Park, located at 416 Dr. Michael DeBakey Drive in Lake Charles.
