LSU to Face Baylor in the Texas Bowl
The LSU Tigers are bowl-bound after what many would consider a disappointing season after the Tigers finished the Regular Season with an 8-4 record. In a year where the College Football Playoff expanded to 12 teams, LSU still misses the mark, instead, they will be headed to Texas to take on Baylor in a bowl game.
The LSU Tigers will take on the Baylor Bears in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl in Houston on New Year’s Eve. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at NRG Stadium, with the game airing live on ESPN. This will be the first time the teams have met on the field since the 1985 Liberty Bowl. LSU leads the all-time series 8-3.
The Tigers come into the game with an 8-4 record after finishing the regular season strong with wins over Vanderbilt and Oklahoma. Under head coach Brian Kelly, LSU is 2-0 in bowl games, having defeated Iowa in the 2022 Citrus Bowl and Wisconsin in last year’s ReliaQuest Bowl. Junior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier leads the Tigers’ powerful passing attack with 3,735 yards and 26 touchdowns this season.
Baylor, also 8-4, is coached by former LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda. The Bears are riding a six-game winning streak, ranking among the nation’s top active streaks. Baylor tied for second place in the Big 12 with a 6-3 conference record.
This will be LSU’s third appearance in the Texas Bowl. The Tigers last played in the game in 2015, defeating Texas Tech 56-27. Fans are eager to see if LSU can continue its bowl success and close out the season with another big win.
