McNeese State's Cowboys have been given a pre-season national ranking of No. 20 by the Sports Network.

The Cowboys, who were 6-5 last year and not ranked in the final Sports Network poll, were one of three Southland Conference teams listed in the poll.

Defending SLC champion Stephen F. Austin led the way with a 17th place while Central Arkansas was in 18th place. Sam Houston State and Northwestern State received votes.

Defending national champion Eastern Washington was the No. 1 pick followed by Appalachian State, William & Mary, Georgia Southern and Delaware. Rounding out the top 10 were Montana State, Northern Iowa, Wofford, Jacksonville State and New Hampshire.
