McNeese Softball Heading To Evanston For NCAA Regionals
The McNeese Cowgirls softball team is heading to Evanston, Illinois for the NCAA regionals. After winning the Southland Conference regular season title, the Cowgirls also took home the Southland Conference tournament title and earned themselves an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
This will be the eighth appearance in the NCAA tournament for the Cowgirls. They earned the 3 seed in the Evanston regional that will be hosted by the overall #9 seed in the tournament, Northwestern. The other teams that will be apart of the Evanston regional are the 2 seed Notre Dame and the 4 seed Oakland.
The Cowgirls will kick off the action of the Evanston regional against Notre Dame on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 1pm and the game can be seen on ESPN+ with a subscription.
It will be the second meeting all-time against Notre Dame. The previous meeting took place on March 1st, 2003 at the UL Lafayette Classic where the Irish defeated the Cowgirls 6-1.

Saturday, May 21
Game 3 - Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2 - 10 a.m. CT
Game 4 - Loser of Game 1 vs. Loser of Game 2 - 12:30 p.m. CT
Game 5 - Loser of Game 3 vs. Winner of Game 4 - 3 p.m. CT
Sunday, May 22
Game 6 - Winner of Game 3 vs. Winner of Game 5 - 3 p.m. CT
Game 7 (if necessary) - 5:30 p.m. CT
Should the Cowgirls win the Evanston regional, they will take on the winner of the Tempe regional that features Arizona State, LSU, San Diego State, and Cal State Fullerton.
