New Cruise Line To Set Sail Out Of Galveston, Texas In 2025
In our part of the country, we are so close to two different ports that offer people to take a cruise vacation. One is in New Orleans and the other is Galveston, Texas. For our area, most people in Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas opt for the port of Galveston due to how close we are to the city.
Cruising has become one of the most popular ways to travel and take a vacation to destinations in the Eastern and Western Caribbean. There is something about those white sandy beaches, crystal clear blue waters, and being pampered that has made cruising rise in popularity.
In the past, the port of Galveston has been home to a few cruise lines like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Disney, Princess, and MSC cruise lines. That is all about to change as cruisers will have another option when sailing out of Galveston, Texas.
It has been announced that Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) will be making Galveston, Texas another port where cruisers of Norwegian can opt to sail out of for a vacation.
According to the Port of Galveston's website, NCL has a 10-year contract with Galveston Wharves to use a new terminal at the port, which is expected to open in November 2025. This will allow NCL to homeport in Galveston full-time.
So which Norwegian ships will be sailing out of Galveston?
- The Norwegian Viva will sail out of Galveston from December 2025 to April 2026. The ship will offer a seven-day Western Caribbean cruise to Cozumel, Roatan, and Harvest Caye.
- The Norwegian Jade will offer an 11–17-day cruise through the Panama Canal from October 2025 to April 2026.
