Target Announces Stores Will Be Closed Thanksgiving Day

We know Thanksgiving is a few months away, but another big box giant has announced they will not be opening their stores on Thanksgiving this year.

In the past, the biggest shopping day of the year is the day after Thanksgiving, known as Black Friday. However, over the past few years, it seems retail giants have started opening their stores Thanksgiving evening to get a jump on holiday shopping.

Target has announced they will not be opening any of their stores on Thanksgiving day this year, joining Walmart who announced the same plan late last week.

I mean, think about it. Bargain hunters and holiday shoppers flood stores every year on the hunt to get the best deals for their money. That means long lines of people outside and huge crowds inside the store, which right now is something officials at both retailers are concerned about.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Target said on their website in a blog post that this is not the year for large crowds. They went on to say they plan to have over 20,000 items available for curbside pick-up at their stores or delivery from online shoppers with plenty of savings shoppers are used to during the holiday shopping frenzy.

Other retailers that have followed suit so far are Dick's Sporting Goods, along with Golf Galaxy, and Field & Stream locations. We are sure more will follow.
