Everyone knows the state capitol is in Baton Rouge, but did you know that Louisiana has a bunch of other capitals? It's true! We made a list.

    Crawfish Capital of the World

    Breaux Bridge, Louisiana

Want some crawfish? 'Course ya do!

Head on over to Breaux Bridge and gitcha some. The first restaurants to openly offer mudbugs on their menus were in this Louisiana city, which is also the birthplace of crawfish etoufeee.

Officially named la capitale Mondiale de l’ecrevisse by the state legislature in 1959, Breaux Bridge now hosts the annual Crawfish Festival, which has been recognized as one of Louisiana's finest.

    Mmmmm. Crawfish!

    Catfish Capital of the World

    Des Allemands, Louisiana

Although Savannah, Tennessee thinks it's the Catfish Capital of the World, it's clearly wrong. As is Belzoni, Mississippi. And don't even get us started on Selkirk, Manitoba's claim to the title. Canadians don't get to talk about catfish. It's, like, a law or something.

The clear winner in the Catfish Capital contest is Des Allemands. Governor Edwards made it official in 1975, so let's just not fight about it anymore.

Instead, go grab a plate of some fried catfishy goodness and let's all be friends.

    Rice Capital of the World

    Crowley, Louisiana

Stuttgar, Arkansas might think it's the Rice Capital of the World, but it's technically the "Rice and Duck Capital of the World" which is totally different, because it's got ducks in it.

People in Louisiana know Crowley is the one true Rice Capital. Not only does the city host the International Rice Festival, but it's also in Louisiana and not in Arkansas, which makes Crowley the default winner here.

So what if the title is self-proclaimed? Nobody cares, Arkansas. NOBODY CARES.

    Jambalaya Capital of the World

    Gonzales, Louisiana

Officially named the Jambalaya Capital of the World by Governor McKeithen in 1968, Gonzales plays host to the Jambalaya Festival every spring.

Of course, no one can agree on exactly what jambalaya is, but it always has rice and meat. Everything after that is open to interpretation.

Fun fact: if you were born between March 21 and April 19, your official Cajun Sign of the Zodiac is Jambalaya. No, really. We're not even kidding.

    Pie Capital of Louisiana

    Lecompte, Louisiana

Sure, it might not be the Pie Capital of the World, but Lecompte is the Pie Capital of Louisiana, so it still counts. Louisiana is "the world" as far as we're concerned.

It all started with Lea's Lunchroom, which has been baking pies for the past eight decades. Today, Lea's sells 65,000 pies a year, which led the state legislature to proclaim it the Pie Capital of Louisiana in 2001.

Anybody up for a road trip?

    Strawberry Capital of the World

    Ponchatoula, Louisiana

Sure, it's never been officially recognized as the Strawberry Capital of the World, but that's probably only because this is Louisiana, and we don't need nobody's approval for nothing.

Still, Ponchatoula is known as the Strawberry Capital of the World, and that's good enough for us.

Also known as the Gateway to New Orleans, Ponchatoula's Strawberry Festival is one of the largest events in the state, second only to Mardi Gras. And that's saying something.

    Frog Capital of the World

    Rayne, Louisiana

Frog legs. It all comes down to frog legs.

Back in the 1880s, a businessman by the name of Jacques Weil started exporting legs harvested from Rayne frogs to fancy restaurants from New York to Paris because they were just so darn yummy. Everyone had to have them!

There's also the annual Rayne Frog Festival, which you should totally check out. Just nobody tell Kermit. Miss Piggy would be furious.
