Some colder weather has already moved through the state in the past week, with lows in the mornings in the mid-to-lower 40s. What has been nice it the highs have been sitting in the lower 70s lately. But that is all about to change next week, according to experts.

Louisiana meteorologists have been posting on social media that a cold blast will be moving into Louisiana next week. They are saying that the coldest weather of the season will be here soon.

Meteorologists like our friend Zack Fradella, who used to work in Lake Charles and is now in New Orleans, said on his social media,

ZACK FROST is watching early next week closely! Easily the coldest air of the season is coming with potential for a morning of frost as temperatures drop to near freezing.

The timing of the cold weather looks like Monday evening into Tuesday, as the National Weather Service is forecasting a high temperature on Monday to only reach around 61 degrees in Southwest Louisiana, with temperatures at night falling to the mid to upper 30s.

Make sure you have your plan in place just in case the temps in your area fall below freezing to ensure your pipes don't freeze, your pets are taken care of, and check on your people who may not have adequate heating in their homes.
