Did You Know There’s Another Rice Festival in Jennings?

Did you know there's another festival, of sorts, that commemorates rice in south Louisiana? It's actually called the Yellow Rails and Rice Festival, and it's based in Jennings.

The four-day event offers bird-lovers (the yellow rail is a bird), farmers, and anyone interested in the Cajun prairie a unique view of our beautiful part of the country. Festival organizers call it the "working wetlands." Attendees must register in advance and are treated to tours of rice mills and farms, Cajun food and music. The trail takes them from the piney woods to Cameron Parish, and from Jennings to Crowley.

The traveling troop will be searching for birds, watching the rice harvest, and learning about our history and culture from November 2 through November 6. Registration closed in late October.
