Mary Jean Thigpen was four years old when Jason Reeves, a repeat sex offender, brutally raped and murdered her. That was 2001, and yet, the saga of her untimely death has not ended. Reeves' attorneys are working to block his execution even now, during the month when Mary Jean would have turned 18.

On Wednesday, March 25, FOX29 is going to air an hour-long special devoted to Mary Jean's story. It's an incredible narrative, a heartbreaking journey and a potent reminder that victims aren't just names buried in a news story -- they were real people.

I sat with FOX 29's Rhonda Kitchens as she explained her labor of love. You can see it at 9 p.m., on March 25 on FOX29.
