Louisiana DUI Suspect Attacked by Alligator After Chase
Metairie, Louisiana - You truly never know what to expect these days when we turn on the news, but this story from the Louisiana State Police made me chuckle a bit. This is the story of a DUI investigation and an alligator coming to a head.
This is one of those stories that keeps getting more unbelievable the more it goes on.

LSP Says Man Attacked By Alligator Following DUI Chase
According to the Louisiana State Police, the interaction started on I-0 near Bonnabel Boulevard in Metairie when a Toyota Supra was seen driving recklessly and hit a concrete barrier, blowing out its tires. The driver, identified as 40-year-old Victor M. Rivas of Montz, was later found on Interstate 310 in St. Charles Parish, where troopers stopped him and began a DWI investigation.
But things quickly escalated when, during questioning, Rivas ran off on foot, jumped from the elevated interstate into a swamp, and kept moving through the area.
After being spotted again near Highway 61, he reportedly ran back into the swamp in an attempt to avoid officers. At that point, according to the State Police, Montz was then attacked by an alligator and suffered injuries to both arms.
Montz was taken to a hospital for treatment and later charged with second-offense DWI and resisting an officer. Additional charges were added from the earlier crash, including hit-and-run and careless operation.

I guess this is a quick reminder to NOT drink under the influence or run away from the officers, for that matter. Although this is definitely one of the more unusual endings you’ll hear about.
