If you're just waking up this morning and haven't checked the scores from last night, then I have one that will kind of shock you.

The McNeese baseball team traveled to Baton Rouge last night to take on the LSU Tigers baseball team on their home turf, and the Tigers got the surprise of the season.

Not only did the Cowboys beat the #9 ranked LSU Tigers, but they shut them out by winning 7-0 and holding the Tigers to only two hits in the game. It was the Pokes first win over a top 10 team since 2000.

McNeese also became the first Southland Conference team to ever shut out LSU in the conference's history. The Cowboys scored a run in the first four innings to take the lead 4-0. Starting pitcher Austin Sanders gave the Pokes a solid 6 inning outing and picked up the win.

McNeese added a run in the 6th, 7th and 9th innings to seal the game and beat the Tigers 7-0. What's even more impressive is that the Cowboys had 13 hits in the game, while the Pokes' pitching held the LSU Tigers to only two.

The win improved Cowboys to 19-11 on the year. The Cowboys will host Louisiana Tech tonight in Lake Charles, weather permitting.
