It's been almost six weeks since the McNeese Cowboys football team has played at home here in Lake Charles. The last home game for the Pokes was on September 21st. Since then they have played four games on the road with a bye week squeezed in there.

The reason for the long pause for the Cowboys getting back home is that when Stephen F Austin decided to rejoin the Southland Conference (SLC), schedules for all the SLC teams had to be restructured to fit in a game with Stephen F Austin.

The road trip for the Cowboys produced a 1-3 record in those four games. The pokes beat then-nationally ranked Weber State before going on a three-game losing streak failing to Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, and Nicholls all on the road.

The Cowboys currently sit at 4-5 on the season and 1-3 in Southland Conference play. It's homecoming week for the McNeese Cowboys with all sorts of activities scheduled for the weekend starting Friday night with the Cowboy Block Party presented by Lake Charles Toyota in association with The McNeese Athletic Foundation, and Deep South Productions.
