Police Jury Expands Eligibility For COVID-19 Drive-Thru Testing
Yesterday, we reported that drive-thru testing had commenced at the Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles with certain criteria that people would need to meet in order to be tested.
Last night, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury (CPPJ) updated that criteria and added a few more symptoms and lifted some age requirements while enforcing others.
The new criteria is reflected in bold lettering. Here are the following symptoms you will need to have to be tested.
- Fever
Plus at least one of the other symptoms below:
- Shortness of breath
- Cough
- Body aches
- Sore throat
- Runny nose
Also, kids under the age of 16 will not be tested and the CPPJ has lifted the 60 or over age requirement.
Testing will continue from 9:00am - 3:30pm April 1-2 at the Burton Coliseum Complex, 7001 Gulf Highway in Lake Charles and residents may begin lining up at 8:30am.
A maximum of two people per vehicle may be tested and all must sit in the front seat of the vehicle. Residents of Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis parishes are the only ones eligible for testing at the Burton Coliseum location.
