According to USA Today, Denny’s executives shared the plan during a recent earnings call. They said 50 of the least profitable restaurants will close by the end of 2024, with another 100 shutting down in 2025. The company is focusing on closing older locations that are too costly to remodel or in places where the restaurant isn't making enough money.

Even though Denny’s is shutting down some locations, the company says it’s preparing for future growth. These closures are meant to help clean up its portfolio and focus on stronger, more profitable restaurants.

According to a report from USA Today, Denny’s shares dropped nearly 18% after missing its quarterly earnings estimates. The company’s stock is down 50% for the year.
