ABOUT WHISKEY MYERS

Whiskey Myers is an American rock band from Palestine, Texas, and is Jeff Hogg (drums), Tony Kent (percussion/drums), Cody Tate (lead and rhythm guitar, vocals), John Jeffers (lead guitar, slide guitar, lap steel guitar, vocals), and Jamey Gleaves (bass). Their most recent album, Tornillo, was published in July 2022. They have six albums in total.

Inspired by the songs of numerous performers, including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr., and Waylon Jennings, friends Cody Cannon and John Jeffers founded the band. They started going as Lucky Southern after Cannon's buddy and coworker Cody Tate joined them. Following some time spent performing together, the three decided to start a more serious band.

They requested Cannon's cousin Gary Brown to play bass (even though he was not proficient at the instrument at the time), and they recruited friend Jeff Hogg to play drums. They started doing live performances in and around their home state of Texas, gradually gaining popularity among the Red Dirt/Texas scene.

Whiskey Myers has a few of my favorite songs. Songs like "Stone," "Ballad of a Southern Man," "Bury My Bones," and so many others! What's your favorite? Let us know in the comments!

Whiskey Myers will be coming to Louisiana for two shows, one in Baton Rouge and one here in Lake Charles.
