Your Fourth of July Cookout Will Cost You Way More This Year

Have you been to the grocery store lately? If you have, then you have seen the price of goods going up and up and up every time you make a trip.

The Fourth of July is coming up this weekend which means folks will be getting together and firing up the grill and cooking their favorites on the grill. Things like hamburgers and hot dogs are people's favorites.

But here in South Louisiana, we like grilling things like smoked sausage, Jalopinea poppers, pork steaks, ribeyes, and chicken. Well, that meal may cost you a lot more this year due to inflation experts say.

According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, the average Fourth of July cookout will cost just under $70 this year which is a $10 jump from last year in 2021.

They based their findings on different things you might grill up for your 4th of July barbecue for 10 people. The biggest thing you will pay a lot more for this year is ground beef which is up 36% from last year.

The other things that have jumped up in price are Hamburger buns, cheese, chips, two-and-a-half pounds of potato salad, pork-and-beans, two pints of strawberries, lemonade, cookies, and ice cream.

According to the American Farm Bureau Federation,

The average is $69.68, up from $59.50 last year.  That's still only $7 per person, but an increase of 17%.

 

If you were wondering, in years past, it was $59.66 in 2020 and $54.88 in 2019. So break out your wallet and get ready to pay extra for the 4th of July grilling this year.
