[EXCLUSIVE] Riley Green Isn’t Done Acting, Has a Bold Idea for an Iconic ’90s Movie Remake

Riley Green is on one heck of a redneck roll lately. The country star has been cast in the Yellowstone spinoff Marshals, is gearing up to be a coach on Season 30 of The Voice, recently released his new song "Think As You Drunk" and announced a new album due out in September.

Green also has no plans to slow down his budding acting career, as he told us during an appearance on Taste of Country Nights.

Riley Green Wants To Remake an Iconic '90s Movie

Green revealed that he has auditioned for a few more acting roles since landing Marshals, but he already has his sights set on something even bigger: a remake of the iconic 1999 football movie, Varsity Blues.

The "Worst Way" singer said, "Maybe a sports movie, that would be fun. A remake of Varsity Blues or something, that would be fun."

I then asked him which character he could see himself playing in a remake of Varsity Blues.

Green told me, "I would have to be Jonathan Moxon, wouldn't you think?"

Moxon, the lead character in Varsity Blues, was originally played by James Van Der Beek, who died in February of 2026.

Green admitted that the hardest part about acting is trying to balance filming with touring and his new role on The Voice, which leaves him with very little free time.

"One of the biggest obstacles for me right now is scheduling. You know, when you're in the middle of a tour, it's hard to cut loose and go film a movie."

Why Riley Green Looks So Sleepy Lately

The other issue, besides scheduling, is sleep.

Green told Billboard in a recent digital cover story, "The biggest battle I face in my career now is just that I'm sleepy all the time."
