Popular Retailer Closing All 81 of Its Stores, Texas Locations Impacted
In December 2024, we learned that a popular event and party-style retailer announced that it would shut down and close all of its doors. At the time, we didn't have a timeline or locations of the stores closing in Texas. Now we do.
The popular store is shutting its doors after filing for Bankruptcy protection and all 81 locations of its stores in Texas will close. This means that all 81 stores located in the state of Texas will be shutting down soon.
The franchise we are speaking about is Party City. Party City filed bankruptcy and according to CNN,
It had declared bankruptcy in January 2023. The company had struggled to pay off its $1.7 billion debt load, and it was able to cancel nearly $1 billion in debt by going bankrupt. It also managed to keep most of its more than 800 stores open, although it closed more than 80 locations between the end of 2022 to August 2024, according to its most recent financial documents.
The closure of all its stores will affect thousands of people. CNN went on to say that,
Party City is the largest party supply store in the United States. The company had approximately 6,400 full-time and 10,100 part-time workers as of 2021.
We did some investigating and visited a store close to the Texas border in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and here is what we observed. As we walked up to that particular store, we saw the store closing signs and they even had posters advertising that everything in the store was 50 to 80 percent off.
You will start seeing the same thing occurring at every location across America and in Texas soon if they haven't already posted up the signs. So it looks like Party City will be closing all stores sooner than we realized.
