How much more? A pretty substantial amount.

Earlier this week, we were shocked, confused, excited, and optimistic about President Joe Biden's vaccine announcement. In case you missed it, here's the gist. The President was asked when he realistically expected the COVID-19 vaccine to be available to all residents. The reporter who asked the question bookended it by suggesting Summer or Fall. Before h could finish the question, though, the President excitedly interrupted, stating he believes all Americans will be able to go to their nearest pharmacy and get the vaccine in Spring.

Now, after quite some time of hearing news surrounding the vaccine, no one has stated Americans could get it as early as the Spring, even the most optimistic reports. So this was a little confusing at first, but certainly provided me with much needed optimism.

Of course, in order for all Americans to be able to receive the vaccine, we're gonna need quite a few more vaccines. It seems like Louisiana is already taking that step.

Beginning next week Louisiana will receive 67,350 COVID vaccine doses, an increase of almost 16 percent.

This increase in doses comes on the heels of Joe Biden's commitment to providing states with more vaccines. Biden’s official goal is 100 million shots within his first 100 days in office.

According to the CDC, as of Tuesday, 3.3 million Americans have received two doses of the vaccines.

Next week, Louisiana will receive 29,250 Pfizer doses and 38,100 Moderna doses.
